Antonio Bonanno
Antonio Bonanno Diamond Setter
Antonio Bonanno is an award-winning setter and a proud member of the IPG since 2022. Trained in Italy, he began his career in 1998 and quickly built a reputation for poise, precision and an instinctive eye for proportion. His formative years included five years in Valenza Po, where he deepened his command of classical techniques and learnt to collaborate closely with ateliers on complex, stone-led designs.
In 2015 Antonio moved to London, spending eight years in Hatton Garden at the bench for leading houses and independent makers alike. There he honed a versatile practice, fluent in every major setting discipline—from elegant claw and rub-over work to adventurous, technology-enabled approaches including micro-setting.
Since 2023 he has been based in Colchester, where he combines studio work with teaching and mentorship, passing on rigorous craft standards to the next generation of jewellers.
Antonio’s artistry has been recognised with three honours from the GC&DC: a Bronze Award in 2021 for objects set using the pavé technique, followed by Silver Awards in 2024 and 2025. These accolades reflect his hallmark qualities—clarity of line, secure engineering and light-catching finesse—whatever the scale or brief. Today, he continues to specialise in all setting techniques, uniting tradition with innovation.
