Shellac Pad
A handy and extremely inexpensive tool I’ve been making lately. Certainly a lot less than the shellac pad available from a certain well known manufacturer. All you need is a bit of wood a couple of screws and some shellac.
Step 1] Cut a bit of wood to the shape you want. This one is square, choose whatever size and shape suits the job you have. Drill a couple of holes for the screws and a couple of slots in line with the holes. The slots are for earring posts.
Step 2] Put the screws in, leave a little of the heads protruding, this helps anchor the shellac to the pad. Grind the sharp points off if you feel like it.
Step 3] Add shellac.
Use with a ring stick, in a vice or with you Benchmate. The screws grip into the pads and don’t slip. With the slots and screws in line, you can safely put this in a vice without risk to earposts.
