IPG BOOKS
There’s no shortage of skill and experience in the IPG, and many of our Fellows love to pass on their knowledge. They do so by teaching in colleges, training apprentices and via our WhatsApp groups. Fortunately for those unable to partake in those, some also write books.
There’s a plethora of books on jewellery making and no way to know the level of ability of an author. IPG authors are experts in their fields, they are craftspeople who have been judged masters by a previous generation of masters and meet the exacting standards of the IPG.
There are currently three books by Fellows of the IPG.
POLISHING AND FINISHING FOR JEWELLERS AND SILVERSMITHS
The first one published was POLISHING AND FINISHING FOR JEWELLERS AND SILVERSMITHS by Stephen M Goldsmith FIPG, MNGG. Stephen has decades of experience as a polisher, beginning his career at Asprey and Garrard (the former Crown Jewellers) and has worked extensively with society jeweller Theo Fennel.
He has won a string of accolades and awards and regularly teaches his trade skills all over the UK and occasionally the EU.
Often called the Polishing Guru.

WAXCARVING FOR JEWELLERS
The second published was WAXCARVING FOR JEWELLERS by Russell Lownsbrough FIPG and Danila Tarcinale FIPG.
They’ve worked for a huge range of world famous jewellery houses and designers. Like Stephen they have an extensive collection of awards and accolades.
Based on the teaching techniques they have designed, their book has been described as an important addition to the canon and the Bible of Waxcarving.

AVDVANCED JEWELLERY CAD MODELLING IN RHINO
The third published is AVDVANCED JEWELLERY CAD MODELLING IN RHINO by Jack Meyer FIPG.
Jack has provided CAD consulting services for UK jewellery companies since 2006, and has taught CAD for many years at the British Academy of Jewellery and the Goldsmiths Centre as well as offering private tuition.
