Description
Tiia Mannisto
Finnish born and trained, I have been working as a jewellery designer in the UK since 2004, and running my own business since 2007.
It is a lovely job, creating things from the first spark of an idea all the way through to a finished piece. To witness the whole process still brings me joy, every time.
Most of my work is designed by using CAD-programs (Rhino, V-Ray) but I do love sitting at the bench making things by hand as well.
CAD work samples can be found here.
I am honoured to become an Associate Fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths in May 2023.
From IPG website : The Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG) is an organisation that promotes and supports craftspeople of the highest calibre, who produce only the finest workmanship.”
I am constantly thinking of ways a small independent business like mine could reduce their carbon footprint and increase the use of sustainable materials. Most metals in the jewellery industry are recycled, small pieces and filings and polishing dust is gathered from the workshops, cleaned and melted to be used again.
Whenever possible I prefer to use recycled stones, which have come out from old pieces of jewellery, or repurpose broken or unwanted items of jewellery.
So please let me know your preferences when ordering.
Our packaging is an origami envelope and for bigger items a cardboard box with tissue paper is used. Currently I am trying to find a non-plastic sticker solution, paper tape does not hold a stamped logo very well.
